As the Bank Group’s presence on the internet continues to grow, our exposure to threats from the Internet also escalates. It is increasingly important for all staff to be aware of the need to protect the World Bank Group’s information assets.
Building on the current Internet filtering system, which was introduced in 2008, additional security measures are being implemented to minimize malware infections and the possible compromise of WBG systems.
The additional security filtering measures will use existing technology to prevent the malware from establishing communication with an outside controlling system. This follows security best practices employed by major organizations to protect their information and systems.
These additional security measures will be gradually implemented between December 5 and the end of January. The expanded filter will not affect your computer's performance, and no action is required from you. If you encounter an application which you think has been blocked as a result of this change, please contact x32121.
